Cavendish, Vermont reminscences, 1885-1947.

A talk given by Walter A Green at the dedication of a marker erected by the Cavendish Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, August 19, 1936 to commemorate the first settlement of the first settler in Cavendish, Vermont. Green's talk contains information on John Coffeen, the first settler of Cavendish, Vermont in 1769. The collection also includes the copy of an 1807 map of Proctorsville, Vermont made in 1947, a typescript entitled "Reminisences of Twenty Mile Stream" by William Smith dated 1885, a manuscript with "a more complete list of Revolution ancestors," and a transcript of a statement from John Coffeen dated August 28, 1777 and attested to by William Heywood about the damage done to Coffeen's house while a party of soldiers were stationed there during the Revolutionary War.
